Vietnam E-visa is officially launched for visitors from 40 countries
Registration electronic visa (Evisa) by online form
Start from February 01, 2017, the Vietnam Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security officially opened portal Vietnam E-visa for foreigners come to Vietnam for a period of 1-month visa. This is an administrative procedure reforming very significant in the international integration trend deeper in Vietnam in various areas of the world.
The implementation of electronic visa is the concretization of the provisions in Decree 07/2017/ND-CP of the Government dated 25 Jan 2017, that allows 40 countries’ citizens can officially register for entry into Vietnam by electronic visa for a period of 1 month and have the right to entry into 28 international border gates of Vietnam. The fee for E-visas is 25 USD which will be paid online when making online procedures.
Following is the full list of 40 eligible nationalities for Vietnam e-visa
Azerbaijan, Argentina, Armenia, Ireland, Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brunei, South Korea, Germany, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Cuba, Denmark, Timor Leste, United States of America, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Myanmar, Mongolia, Japan, Panama, Peru, Finland, France, The Philippines, Romania, Spain, Sweden, China (not applicable to Chinese e-passport holders), Uruguay, Venezuela, Norway, Slovakia.
Conditions for being granted e-visa
• Outside Vietnam foreigners
• Holding valid passport
• Not falling into the cases of suspension from entry prescribed in Article 21 of Law on foreigners' entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam.
Online electronic visa form includes 3 steps
• Step 1: Access to https://www.visa-vietnam.org.vn/apply-e-visa.html to fulfill required information
Upload foreigners' passport data page image and photograph (straight looking without glasses);
After this step, registration code will be sent to the applicant;
• Step 2: Pay e-visa fee (25 USD);
• Step 3: Enter registration code to check result. If being approved for E-visa please print E-visa to enter/exit Vietnam
The electronic visa opens a great potential for tourism development, trade investment promotion in Vietnam in the coming time which creates an important dynamics attract external resources for the growth of Vietnam's economy in the integration process. It’s legal, convenient with procedure easy to follow but still, have some small disadvantages when compare with visa on arrival:
• Vietnam E-visa is valid for maximum of 30 days, single entry only, while with visa on arrival, foreigners can apply for long-term visa or multiple entry visa.
• E-visa fee is paid via electronic payment gateway as prescribed by the Vietnam Immigration Department. The fee will not be refunded in case the applicant is refused to grant e-visa.
• Working time for an E-visa to be processed is 3 business days, just as long as embassies’ time while Visa on arrival agents only need two days or less (one day, 4-8 hours or just 30 minutes) to get the approved letter.
• The server links might sometimes be down due to overloaded access.
• Foreigners have to determine the arrival border crossings or airport before departure. Changing after applying for E-visa is not allowed.
E-visa is an effort to attract more international visitors of the Vietnamese government that passing through many new regulations and planning which aim at easing legal procedures and reducing costs of travel to Vietnam. In addition, Vietnam visa on arrival is currently the most popular and easiest way to get a visa for visitors to Vietnam as its application is also made online by filling out simple personal information and requires no document at all.
