Procedures for extension of stay for persons who have been granted visa exemption certificates by Immigration Department Vietnam

1/ Order of the procedure

Step 1: Prepare the dossier as prescribed.

Step 2 : Submit the file to the Immigration Department Vietnam of the police department of the province or city directly under the Central Government.

- A dossier-receiving official shall examine the legality and contents of the dossier:

+ If complete, valid, receive the file, print and return receipt.

+ If it is not yet valid, guide the applicant to complete the dossier.

- Time of submission : From Monday to Saturday every week (except New Year, Holidays and Sundays).

Step 3 : Get results.

- The person who receives the result will give the receipt to the officer who returns the result, pay the fee and sign the receipt.

- Time : From Monday to Friday (excluding New Year, Holidays and Sunday).

- Method of implementation : Directly submitting the dossier at the Immigration Office of the police department of the province or city directly under the Central Government.

2/ Composition of dossiers and number of dossiers must be handed to Immigration Department Vietnam

- Profile component:

1. a) Passports or papers of international travel value or papers permitting permanent residence granted by overseas competent agencies to overseas Vietnamese;
2. b) Vietnam visa application, temporary residence extension (form NA5);
3. c) Vietnam visa exemption

- Number of documents: 01 (one) sets.

- Processing time : 05 working days.

- Subjects of application : Vietnamese residing overseas and foreigners being spouses and children of Vietnamese residing overseas or Vietnamese citizens who have been granted visa exemption certificates.

- Executing agency : Immigration Department, Public Security Department of the province or city directly under the Central Government.

- Results of implementation : Extension of temporary residence (not more than 06 months).

- Name of application form: Application form for Vietnam visa, temporary residence extension (form NA5).

3/ Requirements and conditions for implementation:

+ Persons on entry with visa exemption documents are guaranteed by Vietnamese agencies, organizations and individuals for plausible reasons;

+ Overseas Vietnamese and foreigners being spouses and children of Vietnamese residing overseas or Vietnamese citizens holding valid passports or valid international travel papers which are available for at least 1 year;

+ They do not fall into the cases where they have not yet entered the country and temporarily postponed their exit according to regulations.
