What is temporary residence card?
The temporary residence card (TRC) can be considered as a long-term visa issued by the Immigration Department to foreigners who are permitted to reside in Vietnam for a term of one to three years and a maximum of five years and are valid as visas. Persons with temporary residence cards shall be exempt from visas when leaving or entering Vietnam for the duration of their temporary residence cards.
Who are able to granted temporary residence card?
- Foreigners who are members of limited liability companies two members or more;
- Foreigners who are owners of one member limited liability companies (except for their authorized representatives);
- A foreigner who is a member of the board director of the stock corporation;
- Foreign lawyers who have been granted permits to practice by the Ministry of Justice following Vietnam law;
- Foreigner who granted working permit in all kinds of businesses or representatives offices of foreign companies;
- Professionals, students, trainees who are working or studying under national programs and projects signed between the ministries, which are approved by the Government;
- Relatives of the temporary resident card holder include (father, mother, spouse, children)
Using of temporary residence cards:
- Foreigners who have temporary residence cards are allowed to buy apartments and will be able to buy houses at the proposal of the Ministry of Construction to settle the house.
- Foreigners may stay in Vietnam for a long time without having to leave the country when the temporary residence card is still valid.

What documents are required for a temporary residence card for foreigner?
- Certificate of operation of business (certificate of registration business, certificate investment, certificate of operation of representative office, branch,….
- Certificate of legal seal or Notification about uploaded the stamp on National Business Registration Portal
- Certificate of exemption work permit prescribed by law
- Written introduction of legal seal and signature of competent persons of the organization
- Written request for issuance of temporary resident card
- Application form for issuance of temporary resident card for foreigners
- Letter of introduction for vietnamese staff to apply for a temporary residence card at the Immigration Department
- Foreigner’s passport and Temporary residence card is issued previously
- Foreigner’s Certificate of issuance of temporary residence is confirmed by ward/village police where the foreigner is living.
